A dynamic tuba-euphonium quartet based in New England; LP Quartet's mission is to teach and inspire the next generation of low brass musicians, give voice to new composers, and show that every occasion can be made better with just a little more tuba!
Each member of LP Quartet is an experienced performer and educator. Since the group's debut in 2022, they have dedicated themselves to performing and teaching at recitals, masterclasses, professional development clinics, and conferences.
Meet the Musicians
Michael Fahrner (he/him) is a passionate euphonium artist and dedicated pedagogue based in Philadelphia, PA. Michael serves as Adjunct Professor of Euphonium at Rowan University, low brass faculty of Rowan Community Music School, and Assistant Director of the Atlantic Youth Brass Band. Michael is also on the brass faculty of Settlement Music School’s Music Education Pathways program and maintains a private studio virtually and around Philadelphia.
Michael received his Bachelor of Music in Euphonium Performance from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he studied with Dr. John Bottomley, and earned his Master of Music in Euphonium Performance from Georgia State University, where he studied with Eric Bubazc and Dr. William Mann. Michael was also a longtime student of Dr. Adam Frey, international euphonium soloist.
Michael performs regularly with and has been a featured soloist with the Atlantic Brass Band, a North American Brass Band Association Championship Ensemble. An avid chamber musician, Michael performs with the Legato Pesante Tuba Quartet. Previously, Michael performed with The Philadelphia Wind Symphony and the Novi Duo. Michael has competed internationally at the South East Tuba Euphonium Conference and at the Lieksa Brass Week in Lieska, Finland.
As a relentless advocate for the euphonium Michael actively commissions new and adventurous works for the euphonium. Commissions include Bryan Wysocki’sPlato’s Cave, for solo euphonium and prepared euphonium and piano and Ivan Markovik’s Calling, Thinking, Partying for euphonium and flute duo.
As an administrator, Michael serves as the festival chair for the Mid-Atlantic Brass Band Festival, hosting 200+ participants for a two-day British brass band festival. Previously, Michael worked at SchoolofBrass.com, an online brass education community that hosted masterclasses and live streams with top international brass artists, the International Euphonium Tuba Conference, and the Atlanta Homeward Choir.

Dr. John T. Hart Jr. serves as Associate Professor of Music at Keene State College, directing the Concert Band and co-coordinating the Music Education program. He also coordinates the Music Department’s woodwind, brass, and percussion areas; and leads the low brass studio. Dr. Hart is also on the trombone & tuba faculty for the renowned LA Phil’s YOLA National Festival.
Dr. Hart has performed with and conducted many of the Northeast’s top ensembles, including the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, the Hartt Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, Hartford Opera Theatre, the Connecticut Valley Symphony Orchestra, Winchendon Winds, Valley Winds, and TUNDI Opera Productions.
As an active clinician, he has conducted All-State and regional festivals and workshops throughout the Northeast. He especially enjoys working with living composers and is a strong advocate for the creation of new wind ensemble music to better represent marginalized populations.
Dr. Hart also designs, publishes, and presents empirical research on music teacher education and conducting methods. His publications appear in Music Educators Journal, Contributions to Music Education, and Journal of Music Teacher Education.
He has presented at the state, regional, and national levels. Dr. Hart received a Ph.D. in Music Education and a Master of Music Education from The Hartt School, and a B.A. in Music from Gettysburg College. He is a member of NAfME, NHMEA, SMTE, AERA, Conductors Guild, CBDNA, College Music Society, and the academic music honor society Pi Kappa Lambda.
Dr. Hart performs on S.E. Shires Custom trombones, Besson euphoniums, and Eastman tubas. He plays euphonium with the Legato Pesante Tuba Quartet.
Ms. Danielle Kendall began her studies in music with the euphonium at the age of ten. She began playing tuba for her high school when she was fourteen. She grew up in Niagara Falls, New York and completed her undergraduate degree from the State University of New York at Fredonia in 2016 in Tuba Performance and Music Education, summa cum laude. She is in the process of Initial Certification for music education K-12 in New York State. In the fall of 2016 she was awarded a Performer’s Certificate in tuba from the Fredonia School of Music. During the winter of 2015 - 2016, she studied abroad in Ghana, Africa taking African drumming, dance, and gyil lessons at the Dagara Music Center with Bernard Woma.
She completed her Master’s Degree in Tuba Performance at the Hartt School of Music in May 2019. In June 2019, she was a semifinalist in the ensemble competition at the International Tuba and Euphonium Conference. Throughout the years her teachers have been Raymond Stewart, Scott Mendoker and James E. Jackson III. She is currently an Artist Diploma candidate at The Hartt School of Music. Ms. Kendall is also an active member of the International Tuba and Euphonium Association.
Throughout her collegiate career, Ms. Kendall has performed as a soloist as well as a chamber musician for master classes given by renowned musicians such as Dennis Nulty, David Jolly, Demondrae Thurman, Avital Handler, Sotto Voce, Gene Pokorny, and Joe Burgstaller. Along with performing in numerous collegiate ensembles she has been a member of the 2020 Brass Quintet, The Flavor Town Tuba Quartet, The Vintage Brass Quintet, The Baker Memorial Church Brass Quintet and has performed with The Willimantic Orchestra, The Tonawanda Legion Band, Sanborn Fire Company Marching Band and The Erie County Wind Ensemble. Ms. Kendall has also performed numerous solo recitals at SUNY Fredonia and the University of Hartford. She teaches tuba and euphonium lessons and has freelanced throughout Western New York and Connecticut. Besides music, Danielle enjoys spending time outdoors, playing with her cat and cooking for her family.
Based in Central Massachusetts, Dr. Wilkinson serves as a core member of the New England-based ensembles LP Quartet and Amity Street Brass Quintet. He has concertized with the likes of Sonic Brass and Bala Brass, as well as Symphoria, the Plymouth Philharmonic, and the Cape Symphony. A multi-faceted musician, Steve can also sometimes be spotted strolling alongside New Orleans-style street bands or donning his lederhosen for Oktoberfest season.
A licensed K-12 educator in Massachusetts, Dr. Wilkinson is a passionate pedagogue. In addition to serving as Instructor of Tuba and Euphonium at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT, Steve maintains a robust low brass studio among nearly a dozen Massachusetts schools where his students achieve high levels of success in their band classes, district auditions, and youth orchestras.
Dr. Wilkinson is a talented composer, gradually filling out his catalogue of original and arranged works for brass in various settings, both self-driven and commissioned. He also keeps busy composing original exercises and materials for his students.
Dr. Wilkinson earned his doctorate at The Hartt School under the tutelage of Scott Mendoker and James Jackson. In addition, he has studied composition with Robert Carl and Daron Hagen. He earned his Master of Music Performance at Ithaca College under Justin Benavidez and Craig Sutherland, and he holds a dual degree in Music Performance and Music Education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst where he worked with John Bottomley.
